~ Detail Photos ~

Featured here is a classic coin blouse from the Ranu Tharu people of Nepal's Southern, "Terai" region.  The coins are Indian rupees and become heirlooms and are passed from generation to generation and sewn on new blouses as required.  The coins on this one are mostly from the early half of the 20th century.  I haven't checked every coin but the range at a quick overview is from 1916 up to 1972, with the majority from the 1930's.
